Teaching and Learning

"Education is the passport to the future, because tomorrow belongs to those who prepare today" - Malcom X

Both teacher and student must be active subjects in the learning process

This means that the teacher, as coordinator and stimulator of the process, must present concepts or theories, relating them first with the previous knowledge of his/ her students, so he/she must be more involved with them individually, know the strengths and weaknesses of each one and treat to create a common base from which everyone can start. From there, he/she must formulate the challenges or problems that motivate their resolution and through which  link between old and new knowledge can be created and also extrapolated to another situation, which may well be that problem posed.

On his/her part, the student must actively participate in his learning, through the constant search for relationships between the concepts that are being taught and the knowledge that he already has in his mind; so he must have some level of information stored when viewing a class. This implies in some cases some research or basic preliminary reading, since it is not easy for a teacher to relate his/her subject to the personal experiences of each student. He/ She must make an effort of his/her own to transfer the new knowledge to other situations or problems in order to fix it in his/her mind.

Therefore, in teaching, it is necessary to involve teachers and students in the work of teaching   to learn, and connect the new concepts with the previous ones, since as a result we can achieve that the learning carried out in a meaningful way is easily transferable to another situation of reality and allows what we call transfer. It is the moment when a concept, a situation or a new idea connects.
